Printing Just One Page in Outlook 2007

"I often want to print just the first page of an email that has gone back and forward to a single person multiple times. When I ask to print an email from Outlook, sometimes it comes up with a Print panel that includes Table style, Email style etc and doesn't allow you to select the page number. You can only select Odd, Even or All pages. Other times it comes up with the correct panel that I want to use that lets me select just page 1. Is there any way of configuring Outlook so that it only comes up with the second 'generic' print panel? Clearly Microsoft don't understand how users want to use their products!"

Outlook uses the IE print dialog for HTML email - this is the one that gives you the option to print specific pages.

When you print a plain text message Outlook uses it's printer dialog. You have three options if you need better control over the printout.

  1. Convert the message to HTML (open the message, select Edit, Edit message then choose Format menu and change to HTML).
  2. Press Forward and print using Word's print dialog.
  3. Print to a digital format such as the Office document image driver and then print the electronic copy to paper.

Bonus tip: When you choose Forward, you can remove the header information and your name is not included at the top of the message, but it works best if you use the Forward defaults of forward inline and don't add quote prefixes or indent the original message.

By the way, Microsoft does understand how users want to use the product; they sometimes have a hard time implementing the features. They are getting better about understanding how we work too - thanks to the Customer Experience Improvement Programs (CEIP). When you first install Office, you'll be asked if you want to help improve Office - if you say yes data about how you work - what menus you use, the steps you use to create a document etc - is sent back to Microsoft and analyzed. While Outlook 2003 introduced changes based on CEIP data, the new toolbars in Office 12 resulted in what they learned from the CEIP data.

How to check Memory size in HP-UX

In HP-UX you can use check physical memory allocated to server from command line as well as from SAM.I am going to describe here how to check memory on HP-UX from command line:

1.) Checking phyiscal memory in HP-UX using dmesg :

You can check memory in HP-UX using dmesg output. In HP-UX dmesg print HP-UX server messages and hardware information available to system during the boot time. Here is the command to check physical memory in HP-UX using dmesg output :

hp-uxdev# dmesg |grep Physical

Physical: 8388608 Kbytes, lockable: 5614168 Kbytes, available: 6461644 Kbytes

In dmesg output memory is listed as 8388608 Kbytes or 8 GB.Note: in grep use P(upper) case in word physical to get memory information or “grep –i physical”

2.) Checking HP-UX memory using print_manifest :

HP-UX provides very useful command called print_manifest,i am going to use print_manifest to check how much memory is available :

hp-uxdev# print_manifest |grep –i memory

Main Memory: 8192 MB

Print_manifest is very handy command I don’t even have to

3.) Checking HP-UX memory using cstm:

Check on your HP-UX server if you have cstm installed by running which cstm .If you have CSTM install on your HP-UX server , you can check Physical memory by running following command :

hp-uxdev# which cstm

hp-uxdev# /usr/sbin/cstm

hp-uxdev# print_manifest |grep -i memory

Configure Exchange 2000 for multiple domains

There are many web servers that serve pages for multiple web sites. These are all hosted on the same server with the same IP address, but under different domain names. In the same way, it's possible to configure one Exchange 2000 server to handle emails for multiple domain names. Here's how.

  1. Configure your organization's MX records in DNS to point to the Exchange server in question. If you don't host the DNS for your domain name's resolution, contact your ISP for details on how to do this.

  2. Launch the Exchange System Manager and open Recipients | Recipient Policies.

  3. Right-click on Default Recipient Policy, select Properties and look in the Email Addresses (Policy) tab. You should see an SMTP Address field that contains the default domain name for your server. If this isn't set, set it now by clicking Edit.

  4. Click OK and then click on the New button in the Email Addresses (Policy) tab.

  5. Select SMTP Address from the list of email address types.

  6. In the SMTP Address Properties window that comes up, supply the other domain name you wish to use with this server. Check the box labeled "This Exchange Organization is responsible for all mail delivery to this address."

  7. Click OK. Repeat steps 3-5 for as many times as needed if you have other SMTP domains you want to host on this server.

  8. The original SMTP domain set up on this server will be selected as the primary SMTP domain. This means that all emails that originate from this server will be listed as coming from that domain name in the message headers. If you want to change this to another domain name, select that domain from the list and click "Set as Primary."

  9. Click OK when done, and say Yes to any questions asking you to apply the new policy. This will have all existing users use the new address. If you click No, only newly-created users will use this address. If you want to have only specific existing users with this address, you will need to manually add the new address for each user.

  10. Stop and restart Exchange.

HOWTO: BlackBerry As Modem For Laptop

SUCCESSFUL CARRIERS: T-Mobile, AT&T, Vodafone, Rogers
SUCCESSFUL MODELS: 7100 and 7290
SHOULD BE SUCCESSFUL, BUT UNTESTED: Cingular 7290 (need custom username/password)
SHOULD BE SUCCESSFUL, BUT UNTESTED: Nextel 7520 (need to dial S=2 instead of *99#)
  1. Introduction
Did you know that BlackBerry can now be used just like an external modem for a laptop computer, so that a laptop can have full Internet access? This is useful when you need to do certain things that a BlackBerry cannot yet do. Increasing numbers of success reports have caused me to post this message. Sometimes, it is still tricky to set up a BlackBerry as a modem for a laptop, but this feature is becoming more and more common in cellphones, and BlackBerry models are following suit.
  2. Supported BlackBerry Models
You must have a BlackBerry model 7100 or a model 7290, or a Nextel 7520. At this time, no successes are yet possible on older BlackBerry models, and may not ever be. This may change with a release of BlackBerryOS 4.0, but there are no guarantees.
  3. Supported Carriers
Currently, T-Mobile, Rogers, AT&T, and Vodafone UK are reported to work. No confirmations for other carriers yet.
  4. Connect Your BlackBerry
Make sure your BlackBerry is connected by USB cable, and your BlackBerry Handheld Manager is running (just launch BlackBerry Desktop to run it.) This is necessary for using the BlackBerry as an external modem. You cannot use BlackBerry as a modem unless you have BlackBerry Handheld Manager running in the background!
  5. Modem Driver Install
If you installed a recent version of BlackBerry Desktop that came with a 7100t or 7290, it should include modem drivers and already be automatically installed. In the event you need to manually install them, the modem drivers should be located in this directory:
    C:\program files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Modem Drivers
  6. Verify The Modem Driver Is Functioning
Go to Control Panel -> Phone & Modem Options. In the Modems tab, you should see a new Standard Modem on a new port (such as COM6 or COM11). Click Properties -> Diagnostics -> Query Modem. You should see the following:
    Quote:
    ATQ0V1E0 - OK
    AT+GMM - BlackBerry IPmodem
    AT+FCLASS=? - OK
    AT#CLS=? - OK
    AT+GCI? - OK
    AT+GCI=? - OK
ATI1 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI2 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI3 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI4 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI5 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI6 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI7 - Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
  7. IMPORTANT SPECIAL CONFIGURATION STEP
Click Properties -> Advanced and add only ONE of the following Extra initialization commands with the appropriate carrier-specific APN Setting:

    TMOBILE USA Users (Success!)
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com","",0,0

    AT&T Users (Success!)
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","proxy"

    Rogers Users (Success!)
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet.com"

    Cingular Users (untested)
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.cingular"

    UK Vodafone Users (Success!)
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet"

    Nextel/Telus iDEN Users (untested)
    (blank - not needed)[/quote]

  8. Add A New Internet Connection
Close the Phone and Modem Options and the Control Panel. Create a new connection with Start -> Connect To -> Show all connections -> Create a new connection.
    Quote:
    1. Click Next
    2. Select "Connect To The Internet" then Next
    3. Select "Set up my connection manually" then Next
    4. Select "Connect using a dial-up modem" then Next.
    5. Check only the Standard Modem (if prompted).
    6. Give the connection a name such as "BlackBerry Modem", then Next.
    7. The phone number is star followed by two nines followed by pound: *99# (except Nextel/iDEN*)
    8. Click Next.
    9. Both username and passwords are usually blank, except for Cingular**
    10. Clear all checkboxes ("Use...when anyone..." and "Make this the default...")
    11. Click Finish
*Step 7 Note: If you are on Nextel, use phone number string S=2 instead of *99#
**Step 9 Note: If you are on Cingular, you need username WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM and password CINGULAR1.
  9. Disable IP Header Compression
Make sure TCP/IP Properties (Advanced) "Use IP Header Compression" checkbox is NOT checked. To verify this, do these steps:
    Quote:
    1. Start Menu->Network Connections->"BlackBerry Modem"
    2. Click Properties Button
    3. Click Networking Tab
    4. Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"
    5. Click Properties Button
    6. Click Advanced... Button
    7. Disable "Use IP header compression" checkbox
    8. Click all OK buttons to close all dialogs

  10. BES Configuration
Skip this step if you are not on BES. You only need to follow this step if your company gave the BlackBerry to you. If you are at a company and you are on a BES 4.0, your Administrator must enable the "BlackBerry IPModem" setting on the BES. This is a new setting in the Version 4.0 of BES.
  11. Surf On The Laptop!
Connect to the Internet on the laptop by clicking the "BlackBerry Modem" icon via Start Menu->Network Connections. No username or password is needed.

How do I specify a non-administrator's Access Rights in LogMeIn?

How do I specify a non-administrator's Access Rights in LogMeIn? Once connected to the target computer (the computer you want to remotely access) as an administrator:

In the LogMeIn Free/Pro interface go to Preferences > Security settings > Access Control;

or if you use LogMeIn IT Reach, go to Security > Access Control;

Then click on Add, then List Users and Groups, find the user account that you wish to add, specify the rights in the right hand list (the options will explain themselves if you move your mouse over the checkboxes).

Once a user has been added with at least login rights, they will be able to access this LogMeIn computer.

When you setup users in Access Control, you can give them full control or set their specific permissions. If you just give them specific permissions, then you can leave the Configure section unchecked and they will not be able to change any settings in Preferences.

This link: https://secure.logmein.com/wp_lmi_corporate.pdf provides a document containing further information about governing remote access across a domain in a corporate environment.
